Dr. Abdullah Yami

Petroleum Engineering Specialist, Saudi Aramco

Dr. Abdullah S. Al-Yami is a petroleum engineer with the Drilling Technology Team, EXPEC ARC. He has a BS degree in Chemistry from Florida Institute of Technology, MS degree in Petroleum Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and PhD from Texas A&M University in Petroleum Engineering. He is a co-author of Underbalanced Drilling: Limits and Extremes Text Book and has 8 granted US patents and more than 30 filed patents and more than 60 publications all in the area of drilling and completions. Abdullah has 17 years' experience with Saudi ARAMCO and has worked in different positions such as lab scientist, drilling engineer, and finally as a petroleum engineer conducting research related to drilling engineering. Abdullah received Saudi ARAMCO R&D C Department Innovation Award and Successful Field Application Award from his research work. Also he received Saudi ARAMCO EXPEC ARC Effective Publications Award. Abdullah was awarded the 2009 SPE Outstanding Technical Editor Award (Drilling and Completion Journal). In 2014 he received an award from Saudi ARAMCO Vice President for his contribution in SPE Saudi Arabian Section as a technical Vice-Chair. Recently he received the 2014 SPE Regional (Middle East, North Africa and South Asia) Drilling Engineering Award.
