The Oil & Gas industry has historically been slow to adopt the latest IT technologies, focusing on Oil &Gas specific technologies and relegating IT as a non-core technology. It has also modeled the business functions using verticals, such as Exploration, Petroleum Engineering, or Drilling that did not communicate effectively and share information across these verticals, which has turned these verticals into business silos.

Data science and Data-driven technologies, such as Data analytics and AI (Machine Learning, Deep Learning) have achieved real value creation in various industries such as Retail, Finance, Manufacturing, Advertising and Social platforms.  However, and in spite of the possession of large volumes of data by the Oil & Gas companies, they did not yet realize the full potential of these technologies and their data. Mr. Al Awwami has a Master Degree in Computer Science.
