Aziz S. Odeh
A.S. Odeh received a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of California Berkeley, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. Odeh joined Mobil in 1953, and except for a two year assignment (59-61) with Mobil Oil of Venezuela, he was a member of the Exploration and Production research laboratory in Dallas until his retirement in 1989. He was involved in carious production research projects, and guided the reservoir engineering research for many years. In 1980 he was promoted to Senior Scientist, the highest technical position in Mobil.
Odeh was active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and chaired and served on several committees. In 1984 he was the recipient of the John Franklin Carll Award, a major SPE award recognizing distinguished achievements/contributions to Petroleum Engineering. In 1987 he was inducted into the United States National Academy of Engineering, the highest honor that can be bestowed on an engineers. In 1988 he received an honorary appointment as a consulting Professor at Stanford University, and in 1989 he was awarded the Society of Petroleum Engineers – Dallas Section, Outstanding Achievement Award. He was also listed in American Men and Women of Science and Who's who in Engineering and received News Circles Magazine's Man of the Year Award in 1990.
