Lead, NORSOK D-001 Revision Project
Arild Thorsrud holds a MScin Marine Engineering from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy, graduating in 1972. After 4 years as a Chief Engineer in submarines, he decided to change to offshore drilling, starting a career from rough-neck to tour-pusher. Then he began onshore work as a Drilling Superintendent.
After a short interlude as a Manager of a Coiled Tubing company and a year in Italy, he took over Norsea Drilltrainer, a well control and safety training institution. Then, he worjed a self employed, teaching well control, for both drilling and well service. This period also included work abroad, ranging from maintenance work to well control teaching in Murmansk.
In 1998 he was engaged by Phillips Petroleum Norway as a drilling engineer. He went staff in 2000 and worked as a drilling engineer, drilling superintendent and drilling systems project and maintenance manager. Finally, in 2008 he was hired on as Drilling and HSE Director in Rocksource AS, a small oil company. He retired in 2016. Arild was the project lead for NORSOK D-010 and is currently leading the NORSOK D-001 revision project.
